A client recently asked us to help create a special Christmas gift for his mother. He brought in an old photo of his father who has been deceased for a number of years. He wanted us to photograph he and his young son and then add the father to the new portrait. Here is the photo we started with:
We recently photographed one of our favorite clients for a 60th anniversary portrait. Since they did not have a portrait from their wedding, they brought in their high school senior portraits and asked if there might be some way to create a portrait of them together "back then". Here's how it unfolded (as well as the new portrait).
St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Enid, Oklahoma, is preparing to celebrate their centennial early in 2009. Wess and I have a strong connection to St. Paul's. We were married there, all three of our daughters were baptized there and two of our daughters had their weddings there. It was our privilege to photograph and create a special piece for the church's centennial event. I think the finished image encompasses what St.Paul's means to the congregation as well as our community.
The Enid Cheerleaders' calendar was such a success last year that they have created a new calendar for 2008-2009 as a fundraiser for uniforms, contests and other expenses. We had a great time creating images of the EHS senior cheerleaders and the junior/sophomore cheerleaders.
Guitar Hero has been the inspiration for a couple of portraits this year and Jennifer's senior sitting provided a unique opportunity to combine two "Hero" images. I think it shows the inner rock star that resides in many of us!
Lauren and I went to our third American Idol concert on Thursday. We probably wouldn't have gone at all if it weren't for Jason Castro (although I must admit, I really enjoyed Michael Johns and David Cook as well). Fortunately, we had good seats and I was able to get a couple of good images from my little "point and shoot".
Alexys' portrait was easy to embellish, using flourishes and a pink border to tie in with her costume. The portrait is mounted on canvas which wraps around to the back, so no frame is necessary. Stop by the new studio in Sunset Plaza (between Hobby Lobby and Ross, in the corner next to Costello's) to see the finished product.
This senior is a serious martial arts student and her images made an interesting composite. The colors in the close up image are belts she has earned in addition to what she's wearing in the other images. And yes, she can break a board with her bare hand!
Sometimes we photograph large families as a big group, then break into smaller groups (Mom & Dad together, children together, grandchildren, etc.) Here's a grouping of this type of session put together in one image.
The images used for a display book we created show exactly how quickly life changes. We've been blessed to document this family's special moments and hope to continue their "story".
